Mental health in youth is at a crisis level. Bullying, anxiety, depression, and suicide are on the rise. Reports show that 160,000 students are missing school EVERY DAY due to fear of being bullied. 85% of bullied children have no intervention and are forced to deal with the bullying by themselves.

Reason #1: Practical.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a practical form of self-defense focused on escapes and holds. No kicking or striking means less likelihood of brain injury. Children who are being bullied will learn to hold and control their attacker until an adult can be summoned. A smaller child armed with jiu-jitsu techniques can easily hold their own with a larger, stronger classmate.

Reason #2: Engages the brain.

Jiu-jitsu is a game of physical chess, where you are always calculating your next move in response to your opponent.

Reason #5: Making new friends.

Having a friend and network of support can mean the difference between life and death. Knowing you have a team of like-minded people on your side provides a great sense of security and confidence. Shy, introverted people have found a sense of calm and place to belong.

Reason #6: Helps with mental health.
